DTN WEEKLY ROUND UP:  The bulk of business took place on 
Wednesday last week, with just a little cleanup on Friday. 
Southern live trade had a range of $152 to $155.50, mostly 
$154 to $155, about $3.50 to $4.50 higher than the prior 
week's weighted averages. Northern dressed deals had a range 
of $243 to $247.50 mostly $245, a tad more than $3 higher than 
last week's weighted average basis Nebraska. 

According to Thursday's Daily Direct Slaughter Cattle Summary 
reports, the accumulated weekly average price totals were as 
follows (the prior week's weighted averages are listed in 
parentheses): KS $154.70($151.20); NE $244.97($242.00); TX 
$154.62($150.07); IA $244.90($241.49); CO not available due to 
confidentiality. The Friday Afternoon Daily Direct Slaughter 
Cattle report lists weekly trade volume totals as: KS 14,280;
NE 29,817; TX 9,525; IA 26,975; CO not available due to 

Thursday's holiday kill was 2,000, while Friday's slaughter 
totaled 112,000 head, 13,000 below the prior week and 4,000 
less than a year ago. Saturday's kill was estimated at 81,000 
head, bringing the weekly total to 581,000 head, 97,000 under 
the previous week, but 13,000 above 2021. The weekly averages 
for boxed beef cutouts and boxed beef cuts: choice $254.15(-
2.93), select $233.75(+1.60), with an average choice select 
spread of $20.14(-4.76), and a total load count including 
cuts, trimmings, and grinds of 485(-267). Changes from the 
prior week are listed in parentheses.

For the week ending November 19, 2022, Imported Beef Passed for 
Entry in the U.S. totaled 45,629, 109.33% of the previous week 
and 105.34% of the 4-week average. 

DTN MORNING COMMENTS: This Monday morning looks to be typically 
quiet, with both packers and producers busy taking inventory, 
and setting up showlists. Bids and asking prices have yet to be 
established. Significant trade volume will likely be delayed 
until Wednesday or Thursday. Beef cutouts are expected to be 
mixed, with generally light box movement.
